Montage

December 22 – December 31, 1986
-with the aid of the Order of the Firemind, Sarah Giles successfully infiltrates the Quasar Institute and installs the Manhattan’s Module on the satellite
-Rory Cooper and Nicholas Black arrive at the Conclave with Martin Vincent‘s body, just in time to stop a drunken Jack O’Shadows from telling all that had transpired at the The Mission House, although Art Valentine gets misdirected
-members of the Lichfield Six arrive at the Conclave, where they lay claim to the Martyrs’ now vacant node
-Rory proposes to Jack, and she accepts
-Nick and Rory go shopping for an engagement ring
-The Misfits enjoy a quite Christmas eve
-Thrunn Halvar calls Rory and tells him he has successfully crafted a suit of Primium chainmail for him
-The Misfits hold a funeral service for Martin, which is attended by The Green Man and Mother Abigail. Martin’s body is ultimately buried at The Sacred Grove
-Rory meets the mystery woman from the night of the Mission House Massacre at The Grove, and learns that she is The Emissary
-Nick meets with Lady Amaterasu, and offers her the remaining essence of Noh
-Sarah receives the Mnemnophage device from Milton Berliner, fulfilling their agreement
-Rory summons Brynhildr and invites her to his forthcoming wedding. Brynhilder insists on fighting Rory’s bride-to-be, to prove her worthiness. Jack and Brynhildr battle, and Jack acquits herself well

Session 79
The Ninube

December 21 – December 22, 1986
-receiving Master Iron‘s summons, The Misfits prepare for battle with The Ninube Clan
-Master Iron teleports the Misfits to The Iron Dragon Monastery and lays out the battle plan. Per the earlier agreement, The Misfits are responsible for neutralizing Noh, The Prince With A Thousand Faces, whose investments empower the Ninube
-Nicholas Black brings the Misfits to the Umbra, and in an incredible show of will, overpowers Noh and forces him to follow his summons
-The Misfits prevail over Noh, sealing his essence in Jon Rognavaldsson’s Spirit Flask, but Martin Vincent perishes in the effort
-the Misfits then travel to the Rikishi mountains and join in the assault on The Ninube Compound
-The Misfits encounter Tobi, who is more than happy to test his skills against Rory Cooper and his allies. Tobi is rather surprised when he tries to call on his demonic powers, but since he is armed with Tsyakuren, The Poison Sky, his bravado is undeterred. Tobi deals some serious damage with the cursed blade, and takes Art Valentine out of the battle, but several attacks from Rory and Nick weaken him, and eventually Tobi is slain by an Iron Monastery acolyte who took up Excalibur
-the Misfits witness Master Iron and Master Jade battling Karasu Ninube, the leader of the Ninube Clan. It is an incredible battle, and the Misfits reckon that getting involved might adversely effect the concentration of the Dragons
-instead, the Misfits investigate Karasu’s throne room, where they liberate The Mask of Changing and push the Throne of Shadows into the Umbra
-The Misfits have time to realize that Karasu has been defeated, but that Master Iron was killed in the attempt as well. The Dragons seem to have the clean up in hand, and the Misfits would like to attend the Winter Solstice conclave, which is currently happening. Nick summons Dalgarnos, and cashes in a favour for speedy transport for the Misfits. The Misfits appear at McGillicutty’s in a puff of brimstone-scented smoke

Session 78
The Prophecy

December 20 – December 21, 1986
-Martin Vincent returns from the Summer Lands with Sir Percival. Art Valentine retires with Percival to The Black Berg in order to help Percival get acquainted with the 20th century
-Rory Cooper calls his allies together to strategize about fulfilling his geas. Because he has to be circumspect of the nature of his task, neither The Centurions nor The Hounds of Artemis can pledge to aid him, but they do wish him the best
-Nicholas Black meets with The Sanguine Sisterhood and offers them a place in The Accord, in exchange for access to a node. Itzpapalotl, the de facto leader of the Sisterhood in Rangda‘s absence, seems receptive to the concept
-Art, Martin, and Rory prepare to travel to The Mission House so they can fulfill Rory’s geas, and deal with the Technocratic attack they have been warned about
-they encounter Abraham Gideon Hawthorne on the way
-at the Mission House, the Misfits find the area cordoned off by Carbine Security, and several advanced Technocractic operatives advancing on the Mission House
-Rory consumes a Tincture of Jade Essence, and sneaks around the back of the building, while Art and Nick cause a distraction by attacking the Technocratic agents
-Rory sneaks into Sophie Charles’s bedroom and kills her with a hammer blow to the back of the head, fulfilling his geas
-Art and Martin battle HIT Mark 1s and the Psycho-Kinetic Entity while Carbine Security watches and maintains their cordon
-Rory joins the battle against the Technocratic agents, many of whom have already begun to move into the building and kill the inhabitants
-After dispatching the last of the HIT Mark 1s, the Misfits discover that Mother Mary Victoria, Ro, and Abraham have been killed in the assault. Upstairs, they find Ally Graves in her simsense rig, her body inert
-exiting the building, Rory attacks the Carbine Security personnel by lobbing grenades at them. The extraordinary circumstances of the evening shake the otherwise well-trained troops, and Rory makes quick work of them. 2 of the 24 assembled troops manage to escape, while 1 more gives his life in a retaliatory attack, driving an Armored-Personnel-Carrier through, and ultimately destroying, the Mission Housing
-As Rory digs Nick out from the collapsed building, he hears the voice of Master Iron in his mind, imploring him to gather his allies and prepare for the attack on The Ninube Clan

Session 77
The Geas

December 2, 1986 – December 19, 1986
- The Misfits pool their money and prepare to spread Christmas cheer by purchasing and distributing Christmas hampers to the needy in their community. A substantial amount of funds are raised, and both the Sons of Odin and New Camelot are put to work distributing the hampers
-Rudy McKenna approaches Rory Cooper as the leader of The Church of the First Blood. Rudy tells Rory that he will no longer draw mana from the Church’s node, because of the limited level of protection he is able to offer. He asks to remain the church, however, as groundskeeper and as Emma Windsor‘s teacher
-Milton Berliner, leader of a group known as The Manhattans, reaches out to Sarah Giles with a proposition. Milton has a weapon that needs to be tested, known as the Mnemophage. He also needs a Void Engineer/Iteration X satellite sabotaged. If Sarah can perform the sabotage, she can have the weapon. Always looking for ways to fight the Technocracy, Sarah agrees
-Nicholas Black contacts Fleur in her dreams, because he wants her to put him in touch with The Sanguine Sisterhood. Fleur agrees to pass the message along, and gives Nick the number of an answer phone he can use, instead of invading her dreams
-Art Valentine succeeds in cleansing the baleful resonance from the node below The Black Berg
-Art facilitates a reconciliation between Boudica and Swiftwind. Moving past this trauma brings Boudica more closely into alignment with her past lives, and allows Swiftwind to look forward. However, Swiftwind finds himself alone in a time he does not understand. Art offers to help Swiftwind adjust to this new world, and Swiftwind in exchange offers to serve as Art’s familiar, rechristening himself Hengroen, after King Arthur’s stallion
-after months of bureaucratic hassles and building, Rory’s natural remedies shop, Nature’s Best, finally opens. Despite its location in the Gun Quarter, and the rough nature of the staff, the shop attracts many customers and does surprisingly well
-Jack O’Shadows calls Rory in a panic, saying she can not find The Emissary, and that the rest of The Guardians of the Sacred Grove are acting strangely. When Rory arrives at the Grove to look for The Emissary, he encounters instead the Seer. Seer offers Rory visions of his own past, as well as Rory’s life, before offering a vision of a grim future. The Seer tells Rory that his job is to stop the terrible future from coming to be, and commands him by the geas that binds him to the Sacred Grove to kill Sophie Charles before the winter solstice

Session 76
Swiftwind

November 18 – December 1, 1986
-Rory Cooper encounters Swiftwind after stepping off the Paths of the Wyck. Swifwind makes to attack Rory, but the unicorn’s natural telepathic abilities help Rory to forge a connection and he learns of Swiftwind’s history. Rory promises to bring Swiftwind his faithless master
-back at The Church of the First Blood, Rory conducts a ritual to discover the fate of Swiftwind’s master. He sees the young woman fall to the fires of the Inquisition, and her avatar later reincarnate as Rory’s own mentor, Boudica
-Rory and the Sons of Odin conduct a ritual to honour the memory of the witch Adora
-Nicholas Black meets City Police Commissioner Chief Constable Juliette Douglas, and takes the opportunity to follow up on the Bulldog case
-Julian Sinclair makes contact with Nick, through Elias Elgin, and Black and Sinclair vow to see eye to eye and do business, as long as there is profit
-Sarah Giles starts to work with The Order of the Firemind. It’s an uphill struggle, however, as martyrs are less effective when they come back to life
-Nick convinces Elias to sell his soul, and to take Sinclair up on his job offer, while funneling information to Nick
-the Misfits travel to the Umbra and prepare to confront Swiftwind. They subdue him and exorcise the minor spirits that drive him to anger and despondency
-The Green Man travels to the Church and helps treat Swiftwind’s many physical wounds, but indicates that centuries of anger and self-loathing, aided by spirits of corruption, have left mental wounds that are beyond simple spells
-Nick enlists the aid of Elizabeth Granger in rehabilitating Swiftwind. She is naturally reluctant at first, but eventually agrees to aid the Bygone
-Nick convinces Julian Sinclair that a generous endowment to Saint Gysrg’s School for Boys would open some lucrative doors

Session 75
The Paths of the Wyck

October 31 – November 18, 1986
-in London, William Valentine and Giovanni Lavi confirm the authenicity of The Codex Gigas, promising to induct Nicholas Black as a Inner Circle member of The Serpent Society at their ritual on December 31st
-Sarah Giles, missing her friend Akiko Ninube, binges on monster movies in celebration of Halloween
-Jezebel the Wandering Witch takes Art Valentine and Rory Cooper on a tour of the Paths of the Wyck, before bringing them to Glastonbury Tor during the Samhaim festivities, presenting Art with an opportunity. Art secretly replaces Lance Benwick in a ritual with Morgan Lafayette, much to her dismay. Art presents himself as King Arthur returned, and makes an impassioned plea to the assembled coven members there, but Morgan’s presence and vehemence makes his words less effective than they could be. Art shows them the scabbard of Excalibur, presented to him by the Lady of the Lake, and this token of fae support convinces the Glastonbury Tor coven to support Arthur as King, albeit reluctantly at this time
-Nick gifts the accumulated tass from below The Black Berg to the Mammon Investment Group in exchange for harvesting it and an unspecified future favour
-Sarah creates a geodesic dome beneath The Black Berg that makes working on the node in that area possible
-Art asks Sant-Sipahi to aid in cleansing the tainted node beneath the Black Berg
-Nick travels to Leeds and purchases another building for Nicholas Black’s Home for Lost Souls
-Nick recruits Elias Elgin from Cambridge to join the new Founders
-Sarah returns to the Knights of the Cyber-Brotherhood, and learns that in her absence and thanks to the efforts of Niv Mizzet, she has come to be revered as a saint to the Knights, giving rise to a faction known as The Order of the Firemind
-Rory travels on the Paths of the Wyck back to The Church of the First Blood, but he has to make a brief side-trek off the path to complete his journey…

This Old Iceberg

October 18 to October 31, 1986
-Nicholas Black receives the “true” Codex Gigas from Eli, as a gift in return for the Inquisitor’s Cross
-Nick invites Susan Smith to tea, where they discuss opportunity targets and agree to maintain a genial information exchange
-Nick arranges to meet William Valentine to verify the authenticity of the Codex
-Art Valentine begins to create “nothingness” tass
-Sarah Giles works on creating communicators for The Misfits
-Rory Cooper leverages his diverse contacts in his search for an opponent worthy enough for Sigurd to grant Rory access to the Well of Knowledge
-Gwendolyn Davies confronts Art about the true nature of Camelot
-Rory travels to the Grove, where he learns more about the nature of the Paths of the Wyck
-Nick starts recruiting potential Founder replacements
-Rory, Art, and Sarah travel to the Black Berg and remove the life draining ward
-Woody finally returns from Ireland with money from selling gold to the IRA

Study Session

-Art Valentine and Rory Cooper start disenchanting the life-sapping entropy wards around The Black Berg
-Nicholas Black travels to Coventry to scout out a building for another Nicholas Black’s Home for Lost Souls
-Rory summons a Valkyrie named Sigurd, who pledges to take him to Mimir and the Well of Knowledge if Rory can defeat a sufficiently worthy foe
-Nick tasks Thrunn Halvar with reshaping Brother George’s Primium Breastplate into a suit of prime-infused viking mail for Rory
-Rory contacts Karl Magnusson for help in finding a worthy foe, and Karl agrees to send William Wayne to help
-Nick divulges the Inquisition threat to Sarah Giles and Rory, but conceals it from Art
-Sarah sets up a prime surveillance ward at the train station
-Nick summons Eric Greenway’s spirit to do business, but isn’t able to offer a compelling deal for the specter, and so sends it back to the underworld
-Nick asks Woody to sell the gold looted from the Black Berg to his IRA contacts to generate some capital for future projects
-Art creates some tass for Sarah
-after their ordeal with Ragnar, Beloved of Hel, the Misfits recuperate by focusing on their magical studies

Session 72
Ragnar

-Nicholas Black is accosted by 3 members of the Inquisition. He attempts to tell them that he is a member of a diabolist-hunting organization that uses demonic taint to lure out would-be diabolists, but the Inquisitors brought a powerful artifact, Inquisitor’s Cross, which discerns the truth of his lies. Although the Inquisitors are well-armed and well-prepared, Nick and Shadow catch them off-guard and kill them. Nick loots and destroys the bodies and leaves, but not before getting the soul of the final member of The Founders
-Nick dissolves the bodies of the Inquisitors then travels to London and has Ava Frost send a “cleaning crew” to prevent scrying from discerning the truth of what happened at the site of the battle. Nick gives Ava a periapt from the Inquisitors as payment
-Nick summons the spirits of Brother George and Brother Matthias to interrogate them and seal them within the spirit flask. He learns some details about how the Inquisition operates, and about a secret prison they maintain in Switzerland called The Oubliette. He is unable to summon the spirit of Father Parker Rose
-After his long absence in Greece, Rory Cooper reconnects with the Sons of Odin to let off some steam with a pub crawl
- The Misfits attend The Autumnal Conclave. During the meeting, they share some sharp words with Proteus, but ultimately agree to work together to work on a project to determine how the Technocracy finds newly Awakened mages so fast, and get there first
-Mother Mary Victoria informs the assembled mages that agents of the Inquisition will be operating in Birmingham, looking for individuals who had been possessed by subtle spirits while the gauntlet was destroyed
-Nick starts his work with the Relief Fund Committee
-Art Valentine enchants Semtex, imbuing it with Prime energy
-Grigori Mayakosky finishes repairing Silver. Silver is now ambulatory and can follow commands, but seems to lack the personality he once had. Mayakovsky believes that only the Miracle Man could return the construct to its full life
-Nick, Rory, Art, The Sons of Odin, and New Camelot travel to Oslo to connect with The Circle and battle Ragnar
-leaving their followers behind to learn from the members of The Circle, Nick, Art, and Rory hire Sven Ødegård to carry them to The Black Berg
-Sarah Giles pilots the specially-designed and Semtex-armed undersea drone, while Art mind controls a tuna to hunt for Ragnar. Eventually Ragnar is found, and Sarah detonates the Semtex, destroying the drone but badly wounding the kraken
-The kraken rises, full of fury, and The Misfits respond in kind. Nick damages Ragnar further with a rocket launcher, and Art finally slays it by destroying its pattern directly
-Witness to the horrors of the Kraken, Sven the boatman maintains his sanity and his stoicism
-Per his earlier arrangements with Dalgarnos and Ava, Nick sends the spirit of the kraken to hell

The Mayakovksy Circumstance

-Susan Smith visits Nicholas Black at his City Council office with a stark warning; cease your activities, or see your friends and allies incarcerated due to a soon to be passed Elimination of Terrorism Act; Smith also dropped hints about something he called the Niobe Protocol
-Nick and Art Valentine travel to Oslo to meet The Circle and talk about the Kraken and potentially working together
-Nick summons Dalgarnos to discuss a possible incoming Kraken spirit, to add to the legions of Hell
-Art visits Alison “Ally” Graves at The Mission House to warn The Martyrs about The Niobe Protocol
-Art asks Father Parker Rose if he believes that a Nephandic tainted creature (like Ragnar the Kraken) can be redeemed. Father Rose is a rigid, uncompromising man, and councils that the creature should be destroyed
-Art reaches out to Grigori Mayakosky to ask for helping in repairing Silver, but burns some bridges in doing so
-Art offers Mayakovksy tass and money as a consulting fee, and the Russian technomancer comes to Birmingham to see Silver. Impressed by the construct’s craftmanship, Mayakovsky agrees to remain in Birmingham and fix Silver
-At the City Council Meeting, Nick suggest that the city petition the Crown for relief funding, so a committee is struck, and Nick is elected Chair of the committee
-Sarah Giles gets some palladium from Henry Williams to aid in Silver’s repair, in exchange for a promise not to die again
-Nick orders silver from Patrick O’Sea, who also gives Nicholas some spear guns he had ordered some time ago
-Nick asks Karnacki if the The Triptych would be willing to hold spirits so they can be put into the spirit flask to aid in the battle against Noh, The Prince With A Thousand Faces. Karnacki agrees in principle, but isn’t sure The Doctor will be convinced
-Nick meets with the last member of the Founders, Brian Williams. Brian seems nervous, and Nick senses a large nearby prime signature. Snooping around, Nick unlocks a locked door and comes face to face with Father Rose and two members of the Inquisition…
